On May 6, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that it will, on the orders of Russian President Vladimir Putin, conduct exercises involving the use of non-strategic [intermediate-range] nuclear weapons. According to Russian officials, the exercises were a response to “provocative statements and threats from certain Western officials directed at the Russian Federation.”
A truth that most Westerners don’t want to accept: Russia is not the Soviet Union. Not even close. Most Russians (including Russian President Putin) are dedicated to making sure Russia never returns to a Communist state. 33 years after the collapse of the Soviet Union, the US hasn’t abandoned a foreign policy that calls for the complete destruction of Russia, “regime change”, and a takeover of Russia’s natural resources. The US wants to sell those resources well below their value to American corporations, as was done under the previous Russian President (Boris Yelstin). Russia won’t allow the US to pillage its resources again.
America’s addiction to nuclear weapons does not lend itself to deterrence-based stability. It only leads to an unwinnable war. Why even take that path toward self-destruction? The American/NATO rush toward nuclear war with Russia is unnecessary, and it is potentially suicidal.
It’s “conspiracy theory” to claim that that the US is determined to overthrow the government of President Vadimir Putin and to install a pro-western leader who would return Russia to the colonial-like existence of the 1990s, when Yeltsin allowed the collective west to rape Russia economically and dominate Russia politically. The out-going President Joe Biden said as much.
Russia will not allow it to happen again. Nor should they … ever. Russians will (and should) fight to the very end for their nation. Like it or not, that’s simply a fact. Whether you accept it, or deny it, does not matter. Whether you like it, or not, it just is. Charles
