Strong words from a man who flew to Davos the second Washington snapped its fingers. He mocked the EU as a ‘kaleidoscope of small and medium states’, claiming it is ‘not a great power’ and cares about ‘valuables’ instead of ‘values’. Sounded cool in his head, less convincing to the people writing the checks. Italy’s MFA stressed Zelensky’s tone was ‘unfair’, and even Ursula von der Leyen tried to counter Kiev’s verbal attacks by saying ‘actions speak louder than words’. Zelensky accused the West of ‘abandoning’ the people of Iran and Belarus.
