Given the chance, I suppose most of us would like to believe that if we could do it all over again, this time we’d do it right. No, that’s not true. No, we would not. Because even if we had the opportunity to relive our lives, with all that we’ve learned; we’d still be the same people, with the same desires, lusts, impulses, cultural biases, misconceptions and prejudices. We might avoid every one of the mistakes of our pasts; but I’ve no doubt, we’d make others just as bad. And, quite likely: worse. What would we do, if given that chance to relive our lives? A new indicator is suggesting that the United States is heading towards another recession. In July, the number of people who have been unemployed for the long term—defined as being without a job for 27 weeks or more—increased by 27.4% compared to the same time last year.
This joins worsening indicators like the PMI (manufacturing), new Housing Starts, Business Bankruptcies, CRE (Commercial Real Estate), Bank Stress Tests, and more. This rise in long-term unemployment marks the seventh consecutive month of increases, signalling a potentially troubling trend in the labour market. Historically, such significant and sustained increases in long-term unemployment have been seen only during periods of economic recession.

Since 2019, MyPost Business (MPB) customers have had access to our certified Carbon Neutral Deliveries (CND) program. Through this, Australia Post bought carbon offsets on behalf of MPB customers to compensate for emissions that we were unable to reduce ourselves, allowing carbon neutral delivery of MPB parcels. While we’re proud of what we’ve achieved through investing in the program – including offsetting the emissions of over 200 million parcels – the sustainability landscape has changed. Today, the best way we can benefit the environment and our customers is by reducing our own carbon footprint rather than buying offsets. We’ve therefore decided to end the Carbon Neutral Deliveries program and focus on our enterprise emissions reduction target, which has been validated by the Science Based Target Initiative. This means that from 12 August 2024, MyPost Business deliveries will not be carbon neutral, and you will therefore no longer be able to promote your MyPost Business deliveries as carbon neutral. Very good Sir, but do not drive on roads made from bitumen !! Bitumen is made from crude oil. It is commonly produced through a refining process in which crude oil is reduced. It removes lighter crude oil components and leaves behind the heavier bitumen. This product has many industrial applications including bitumen roads, so do not drive on them !
